May: Big Mind Meditation

This May the Salon is pleased to invite you to explore "Big Mind"

This will be a practical, experiential, workshop where we will learn how to enter into the ever-present mind that transcends and includes all our other minds - the ultimate resting place, source, and summit, of pure spirit.

Trained facilitator and student of Genpo Roshi, Jon Bonello, will be guiding us through the Big Mind process and helping us work through our dual voices on a journey into an experience of the non-dual.

What Is Big Mind?

In Integral Spirituality Ken Wilber describes Big Mind as "an astonishingly original, profound and effective path for waking up, or seeing one’s True Nature. It is such a simple and universal practice it can be used in any spiritual path you wish, or even by itself, as a practice for realizing your True Self."

Big Mind is the name given, by Genpo Merzel, Roshi, to a special new way to discover, experience and appreciate your life. It’s also a good way of working out the kinks, the stuck places, and the unhealthy patterns that keep us down. Life is complex, and the inner self is an exquisite network of the psychological and the spiritual. Understanding it well leads to a better life.

Something Jon recently said about Genpo's work:

"This process has the capacity to help us support ourselves by deeply knowing ourselves and accepting ourselves as we are, from dark to light, wisdom to ignorance.

As I explore further the inner aspects that I learned to meet with the help of this process I can see that I give myself more and more permission to be human and to live up to the potential that I secretly have envisioned throughout my life. I need not fear owning my endless imperfections as well as I need not fear owning my immeasurable beauty. I can consciously choose to be this human being, this miracle of flesh and spirit.

Thank you Genpo, for putting the dharma before dogma."

Jon will be guiding a BigMind workshop at the Wild Heart Gathering at the beginning of May.

March Salon: David Deida

Review

Just a quick note to say "thank you" to everyone who came on Saturday.

With 11 people and a great balance of men and women, it was a great
success with lots of talk about Deida and his work and lots of lovely
conversation, and food! afterwards.

After the event I was left with a feeling that there is a lot more to
explore here… I think people could feel my nervousness about actually
presenting some of these topics, I was just `putting it out there',
but I have felt a lot of inspiration from listening to the Deida MP3s
and I'd love to explore this more with people who liked the intro
enough to want to do more.

It was quite a mixed group and I don't think everyone would be up for
more Deida, but if you ARE then please please let me know and I'll
perhaps we can schedule `Deeper into Deida' as a Salon
subject/practice later in the year.

Thanks again everyone, it was a great evening.

I'd like to say thanks especially to Benedict for the amazing chilli
and great hosting skills.

Love and hugs to you all.

Looking forward to April with Robert Masters even more now!

An evening of video and discussion

We'll take a look at David Deida's video Function, Flow & Glow and just let it flow from there.

Someone said to me recently that watching Deida talk is like "seeing enlightenment channelled through a pervert". Deida's work is edgy, controversial and is bound to raise a few eyebrows and plenty of debate.

Best known for his work on Masculine and Feminine the gross message from Deida is that it's fundamentally OKAY to be a guy, or a girl. More subtly he shows us how it is okay for us to re-embrace the masculine and femine energies at our core - and it's not just words, he embodies it as he speaks.

Post-conventional-communion

Deida's work on relationships picks up on the integral idea of a journey of development from pre-conventional, conventional to post-conventional and defines a three-stage journey from "Co-dependant" to "50/50" to "intimate communion" where we can finally giving our true gifts, from our core, to universe.

Then there is "finding your edge". Finding, pushing to and living at your edge. Deida says "if you don't feel up against it you're either enlightened or lazy".

And that's him being polite.

Video starts at 4pm, but do come earlier if you want to unwind and have a bite to eat.
